Offline Dojo, Google Gears and DOLS

In reading up on Google Gears, I was amused by this post from Brad Neuberg and his gripe about not being acknowledged as being first for web-based offline capability.
While I'm extremely glad to have this capability in Dojo, and I'm glad there's something available from Google now...let's see...if memory serves me correctly DOLS (Domino Off-Line Services) was first introduced when? Oh yeah, around 1999. To be fair, I'm am making a bit of fun here as DOLS requires a client install of some additional software so it is not completely browser driven as is the case with Dojo Offline and Google Gears, and I really don't mean to disparage their work.
Of more relevant interest is the work going on now that will take the original Dojo Offline capability and move its APIs to run on top of Google Gears.
May 30th, 2007 - Google, Dojo, and SitePen announce porting effort to move the Dojo Offline APIs on top of Google Gears. The current download is using the older Dojo Offline runtime, which we will be deprecating moving into the future. The ported Dojo Offline will be available in two weeks.Which means we should be seeing it any day now
UPDATE: Found another reference to the upcoming integration at SitePen along with a podcast about Dojo Offline + Google Gears.
